Smart is not what you are. Smart is what you become with hard work.
— Harvest Network of Schools

To instruct, empower, enable, and guide students on the path through college and career success in dual single-gender and mixed-gender programs.

It is our responsibility to graduate scholars who have a strong sense of identity, purpose, and emotional intelligence. Through a loving, academically rigorous, and culturally affirming environment we develop emerging leaders who have a sense of duty to transform our community.

The Mastery School, serving grades K-6, was established in 2012 through a unique collaboration with Minneapolis Public School. The then district superintendent wanted to learn from and replicate the Harvest strategies that were producing such outstanding results for scholars, especially Black boys. Mastery was founded by the nationally-renown Harvest Preparatory Schools, high performing public charter schools transforming north Minneapolis through education.

This collaboration of a district school and charter school was so unique it drew the attention of CNN news anchor Soledad O’Brien and was featured in 2013 in an episode of Black in America.

In the fall of 2016, The Mastery School moved to a new campus with a new authorizer, Pillsbury United Communities. We are excited to expand the reach and impact of the Harvest Network of Schools throughout north Minneapolis.
